2018 has been a busy year for Miltcon Services Ltd. An overview of some of the projects we have delivered is presented in the following.
Ongoing Market Surveillance Work
In continuing to provide support to SEAI in relation to the surveillance of the market for products covered by the Energy Labelling, Ecodesign and Tyre Labelling Regulations, Miltcon Services Ltd:
• undertook 250 inspections at retail outlets throughout the country to assess retailer compliance with their relevant legislative obligations
• tested a variety of electrical products at specialist laboratories to determine product ecodesign and energy labelling related performance
• tested a number of tyres at determine the accuracy of the information presented on the tyre label
• reviewed a considerable amount of technical documentation provided by manufacturers for relevant products
Planning Permission Secured
Miltcon Services Ltd. secured planning permission for our private sector waste management client which authorises an increase in the rate of acceptance of waste at one of their existing facilities. Permission was secured without the requirement for further information and, as ‘sub-threshold’ development, a Schedule 7 screening assessment was undertaken which identified no potential for significant effects resulting from the development.
Biochar & Activated Carbon Study
Miltcon Services Ltd. was retained by the Irish BioEnergy Association (IrBEA) and the Western Development Commission (WDC) to carry out a study to assess the scale and nature of the current market on the island of Ireland for biochar and activated carbon, as part of the REDIRECT project, of which IrBEA and WDC are project partners. The final project report will be provided in early January 2019 – more detail to follow.
Miltcon Services Ltd. has assisted our private client in tendering for a number of Irish Water contracts related to drain cleaning and jetting, a competition which is currently in the assessment stage.
Miltcon Services Ltd. personnel have been engaged in auditing activities related to the ICT sector this year, which is increasing our awareness and capabilities in this area.
